Erin Whittingham

Nature Network Organizer – Reforestation

As a Nature Network Organizer focused on reforestation at Nature Canada, Erin works with community groups and organizations across the country to advocate for tree equity in their cities and towns. She co-authored the report Bringing the Canopy to All, and previously supported community groups across the country in bringing the federal Government of Canada’s 2 Billion Trees program to their communities. Erin also has experience in environmental education, renewable electricity research, community-shared agriculture, and IT.

Born and raised in Ottawa on the unceded territory of the Algonquin Nation, Erin studied Journalism at the University of Ottawa and Algonquin College, and holds Master degrees in Environmental Sustainability from the University of Ottawa and International Development from the Université Grenoble Alpes.

Erin is passionate about empowering change at the local level that is felt across the country, and she feels most hopeful about the challenges we face today when she works collectively to find solutions and take action.

Outside of work, Erin loves playing with her nieces and nephews, swimming on hot summer days, reading, walking through forests, exploring the never-ending world of herbalism, and envisioning the sustainable future she dreams of.
