Mark is working to ensure that the rapidly developing field of biotechnology does not have unintended and negative consequences for nature.

Mark was Marine Coordinator and subsequently Policy Director with the Ecology Action Centre in Nova Scotia for 23 years. In those roles he helped build the organization into an effective voice for conservation and sustainable prosperity.  Previous to EAC, Mark worked as a marine educator, a fisheries consultant both in Canada and overseas, and as a deckhand on commercial fishing boats. He has undergraduate and graduate degrees in Environmental Studies.

Mark likes to grow food, catch fish, watch birds, and spend time with his children in Nova Scotia. He is excited to work with Nature Canada to protect nature that sustains us in so many ways.
