Ashwin Kaushal
Ashwin joined the Nature Canada team in February 2023. He brings with him over a decade of experience in the nonprofit, marketing-communications, education, and information technology sectors.
He developed an appreciation for biodiversity and the environment during his formative years in British Columbia, on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. It was in Burnaby where he also got his start in the nonprofit sector, specifically in the field of accessibility, working to empower Canadians with disabilities.
Ultimately, it was his time in education, during which he collaborated with a group of students called the Green Team, that left a lasting impression. While helping them release a podcast series on sustainability, he discovered their drive to raise awareness and elicit action. They set out to answer the simple question: “How can we make a difference?”
Ashwin’s aim is to grow and engage the Nature Canada community and encourage supporters to take as many meaningful advocacy actions as possible — towards protecting wildlife areas and at-risk species.
He lives and works on the traditional unceded territories of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg and Kanien’keha:ka (Mohawk) Peoples.
