The Boreal Owl, as its name suggests, is at home deep inside the Canadian Boreal Forest. However, spotting this species can be quite difficult. The Boreal Owl is so secretive that they are only really noticed when calling at this time of year which is when courtship is underway.

Each week we introduce a new bird from the Ottawa-Gatineau area. Alex MacDonald, Nature Canada’s Manager of Protected Areas, shares interesting facts about the birds that live in our communities. Listen to past episodes on our website.

This episode aired on Saturday, February 27th, 2016.
