At Nature Canada, Every Day is Wildlife Day
For me, the best thing about being a member of Nature Canada is knowing that we are making a difference every single day to protect wildlife and the habitats they depend on, and have been doing so for 75 years.
Protecting Canadian wildlife is where Nature Canada is making a real difference, not just today on World Wildlife Day, but all year round. I am proud that Nature Canada campaigned hard during the 1990’s for the creation of the Species at Risk Act (SARA) and that after that success, we continue to work tirelessly to protect species and their habitats. Right now:
- We are working to learn more about why populations of Purple Martins are declining so quickly.
- With international partners, we are developing plans to protect the Canada Warbler in its breeding grounds in Canada where it is threatened by logging, agriculture and settlement expansion, and in its wintering grounds in South America.
- Nature Canada is taking action nationally and internationally to protect the Monarch Butterfly.
- We are working to protect the habitat of the Greater Sage Grouse.
- We are protecting the Blandings Turtle from industrial development.
With the support of our members, for Nature Canada, every day is Wildlife Day. Thanks for supporting Nature Canada’s work in standing up for nature and protecting Canadian species and their habitats.
