What We Heard From You: Our Agenda for Nature
Together, we’re shaping our priorities for nature in the coming months and years. We heard that you believe that nature is a key part of what it means to be Canadian. Even more important than hockey, healthcare, or even the flag, Nature is in our hearts.
You’ve watched this country grow and change over the years and decades, and we know how precious our land is. You’ve seen Canada’s beauty—and you’ve seen what’s at risk. You worry that nature is under threat, even more than ever. And you hold dear the value of respecting and protecting nature today, and also for future generations.
You also told us that your connection to nature centres and restores you—and that your support for Nature Canada and partners in the nature movement brings you hope so we can meet this moment.
Together, we act as nature’s voice, and we are poised and ready to act on your behalf as the new session of Parliament opens. We will be there pressing for your nature agenda: the protection of 30% of Canada’s land, water, and oceans by 2030, the restoration of 30% of degraded ecosystems and ensuring access to nature for all Canadians. We are meeting with government officials calling for more funding in the federal budget to ensure 10 new protected areas and marine conservation areas and 15 urban parks in Canada by 2030—and for a myriad of equally important conservation goals.
With you by our side, we will also remain focused on empowering communities to take local action and advocating for the nature policies that will define the future of our country.
