Phase 3 of the Women for Nature Mentorship Program has Begun!
On March 10, Nature Canada’s Women for Nature launched Phase 3 of its mentorship program during which twenty-two mentors and twenty-one mentees came together via Zoom. Hosted by Pollinate Networks’ Cindy Collins, the kick-off call was led by Nature Canada’s Jodi Joy and Women for Nature co-advisors Janet Bax and Laren Stadelman.
The meeting took place during Women’s History Month to celebrate and support female leadership in nature conservation across Canada. Program participants were chosen based on their passion for wildlife and determination to conserve and protect our planet.
About Women for Nature
The Women for Nature Mentorship program invites female professionals in the conservation sector to share their experiences and offer advice to young women looking to make a difference for nature.
The program serves as an opportunity for mentees to grow both professionally and individually. We believe women supporting women is an important aspect of helping young female leaders break the barriers placed upon them both in the workplace and beyond.
A Mentee Turned Mentor
Cheyenne Currie, a past mentee from the program in 2019, summarized her experience as the best and most valuable thing she didn’t realize she needed.
Now, as Acting Communications and Engagement Manager at Nature Trust of New Brunswick, Cheyenne continues to share her acquired knowledge to help staff and volunteers be more effective in their work to protect wildlife. She is delighted to pass it forward by taking on the mantle of peer mentor in 2021.
Ways to Get Involved
Much like Cheyenne, Women for Nature mentors strongly believe strengthening the power of young women working in conservation will make a significant impact on the biodiversity crisis we are facing and strengthen restoration efforts across Canada.
