Nature Canada

Planting for the Future…

On the hottest days of summer, when the air feels heavy and sweat runs down your neck, there’s nothing more comforting than stepping into the cool, quiet shade of trees.

This reminds me of a powerful saying: “A society flourishes when people plant trees under whose shade they do not expect to sit.”

Kindness is thinking beyond ourselves.  Doing something today to help tomorrow. That’s what caring for nature is all about.

Nature is not a luxury. It’s our legacy. As we face climate change and growing threats to the land we love, your support can help protect Canada’s natural beauty — now and years to come.

Because you’re reading this, you’re likely one of the many Canadians who want our government to do more to protect land, water, and wildlife.

You’re not alone. We’re sharing our members’ voices today:

Richard, QC: “Canada is Nature. Let’s protect it for our health and happiness.”
Linda, BC: “Preserving nature is critical to the survival of our home, Planet Earth.”
Peggy, ON: “I’ve seen this country from sea to sea to sea… and I hope every Canadian gets to do the same.”

You’ve seen how special this country is. Let’s keep it that way. Please consider making a gift today. Nature needs you. You need nature.

Action In Your NatureHood:

Planting a tree seems a simple act but holds great power: over time that tree will one day offer shade, feed birds with fruit, help pollinators with its flowers, and bring beauty to your neighbourhood. And even after you’re gone, that gift to the planet will still be growing. That’s the kind of legacy we all want to leave.

Thanks to caring members like you, we’re helping communities across Canada grow Little Forests—tiny but powerful forests that spring to life with birds, bees, butterflies, and hope. And they are one of the most hopeful, hands-on ways we can fight climate change and save wildlife right where people live. With your help, we can support even more of these efforts.

Here is some of the vital local nature restoration work you’ve helped fund:

  • Wondrous Tree Fellowship (BC): hosted a community education workshop on tree equity and tree planting—including free trees;
  • Les Habitations L’Équerre (QC): planting trees in a neighbourhood recognized as a heat island, including signs and flyers to help identify tree species;
  • Oakvillegreen Conservation Association (ON): hosting a native tree giveaway event in a low canopy neighbourhood;
  • Seedlings Forest Education (BC): adding a tree canopy section to a community garden as an accessible space for the children and neighbourhood residents to learn how to care for an edible garden and the local and indigenous tree species; and
  • Old North East Neighbourhood Association (London, ON): hosting a tree planting event in a low tree equity neighbourhood

One last thought to share with you:

“The power to create a better future begins in the present moment. You create a good future by doing good today”

For nature. For people. For the future.
