The night sky is alight with countless stars.  Since very young, I learned when you are out in nature and unsure of where you are or where you need to go, you can look to the North Star to figure it out.

As we step into the New Year of 2026 and during uncertain times of tariffs, and proposed deregulation, let’s feel renewed by the steady light of the North Star showing us the way.  

That we need to place nature at the heart of our decisions and actions this coming year.  As one of our members, Marigold said to me recently: “Nature is our trademark and has always been part of our national identity as Canadians and needs to be treasured and protected.”

I’ve always been inspired and a tad humbled by our amazing members who truly believe that nature unites us together and work to consider nature in their everyday choices.

Members like you understand how our lands, waters and wildlife enrich our souls, calm our minds and bring joy to our lives. We are a part of nature and need nature to flourish in the future.
