Is your family looking for a more challenging hike to do this fall? Look no further! The Acadian Trail, which is located in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, may be the perfect trail for you. It is important to note that this may be a more strenuous hike, as the trail is rated moderate to difficult. The trail is approximately 8.5 km and takes the average person about 4 hours to complete. There are benches located throughout the trail that will give you and your family a moment to catch your breath and enjoy the amazing view!

In terms of scenery, the Acadian Trail is absolutely stunning. Hikers will have a beautiful view of the Acadian coastline as well as the Chéticamp River. This is also a perfect opportunity to bird watch and take some photographs of your family surrounded by nature!

Though the Acadian Trail is a great place for a family outing, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • There are Black Bears and Moose that inhabit the area and it is important that you do not approach these wild animals;
  • Pack extra clothing, as the weather in this area is known to change rapidly;
  • Bring along some bug spray to keep pests at bay; and
  • As always, make sure to bring enough water to stay hydrated.

Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the great outdoors with your family! Share with us your favourite family hiking spot on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram!
