Looking for a beautiful hiking trail? The Pink Lake trail located in Gatineau Park would be an excellent choice. The trail is approximately 2.5 km and takes the average person about an hour to complete. Hiking through this trail will also provide you with an excellent opportunity to learn more about nature and its many wonders. For example, Pink Lake is a “meromictic lake” which means that the upper and lower water level of the lake will never completely mix. As a result, the lake is home to prehistoric bacteria that use sulphur to conduct the process of photosynthesis.

The turquoise lake and surrounding forest are a stunning sight and provide the perfect scenery to take some great photos. Snap pictures of nature, family, friends, or any combination of the three! Pink Lake also has a lookout point that provides a gorgeous view of the entire lake.

November is a great time to visit the trail due to the beautiful colours of the changing leaves. Take your family, bundle up, and enjoy a stroll through the changing forest, which overlooks a scenic lake. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring along some water to rehydrate as you take your hike. Feel free to pack a lunch as Gatineau Park has several picnic areas where you and your family can enjoy a wonderful meal surrounded by nature.

There are dry washrooms located at the beginning of the trail, free parking by the lookout and the trail, and the Pink Lake lookout is also wheelchair accessible. Pink Lake is perfect places for a family outing so if you happen to be in the area, make sure to check it out!
