Bird Tweet of the Week: Bufflehead

This past Thursday, our friends in Sidney BC celebrated their annual All Buffleheads Day so it is timely to feature the Bufflehead in this week’s Tweet of the Week!

The All Buffleheads Day is held annually on October 15th  and these birds are very punctual in attending it. They arrive in the waters just off the Vancouver Island almost precisely on this day every year as part of their winter migration. Find out why this occurs in this week’s segment!

Each week we introduce a new bird from the Ottawa-Gatineau area. Alex MacDonald, Nature Canada’s Manager of Protected Areas, shares interesting facts about the birds that live in our communities. Listen to other Bird Tweets of the Week on our website.

This episode aired on Saturday, October 17th, 2015.
