Despite human-centric environmental laws, the vulnerability of Planet Earth is clear. The accelerating decline of life systems affects every creature. Rivers cannot object to factories that pollute their waters. Whales cannot prevent discarded fishing gear that strangles their young. Forests have no say in whether they are National Parks or devastated by clearcuts. Without legal or political standing, nature’s interests are discounted and treated as inferior to human interests.
