The Green Budget Coalition

The mission of the Green Budget Coalition is to present an analysis of the most pressing issues regarding environmental sustainability in Canada and to make a consolidated annual set of recommendations to the federal government regarding strategic fiscal and budgetary opportunities.

ABOUT THE GBC

The Green Budget Coalition (GBC) has been active since 1999, bringing together the collective expertise of 21 of Canada’s leading environmental and conservation organizations. Representing over 1,000,000 Canadians, this coalition presents an analysis of the most pressing issues regarding environmental sustainability in Canada and to make a consolidated annual set of recommendations to the federal government regarding strategic fiscal and budgetary opportunities.

Each year, the GBC releases a Recommendations for Budget that touches on the previous budget as well as what else can be done for the following year to ensure Canada is moving on the right track to protecting the nature you love.

Recommendations for Budget 2019 focuses on five objectives:

  1. Tackling Toxics and Pesticides;
  2. Phasing out Fossil Fuel Subsidies and Non-tax Support;
  3. Delivering on Canada’s Commitments to Sustainable Agriculture;
  4. Delivering 21st Century Management for Freshwater; and
  5. Conserving the Biodiversity and Health of our Oceans.
