Nature Canada

Nature-based climate solutions work with and enhance nature to address climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental degradation. Solutions like conservation, protection, restoration and improved land management help reduce greenhouse gas emissions through carbon sequestration.

If these efforts were ramped up across the country they could sequester 78Mt of carbon from the atmosphere each year!

10%

Equivalent to 10% Canada’s overall emissions
(based on Canada’s GHG emissions in 2019)

4 Million

Or the emissions of 4 million Canadians a year
(based on CO2 emissions per capita in 2019)

This interactive map allows you to view the wide range of nature-based climate solutions that are being implemented across the country, and connect you to these places. It is our hope that this map will help to inspire many other projects!

Do you have a project that you believe should be showcased on this map? Please email [email protected] for more information and see if your project meets our criteria!

This map was originally created by the New Brunswick Environmental Network and Nature NB to highlight case studies in the Atlantic regions of Canada. Nature Canada has partnered with these organizations to create a map with national scope and showcase projects across the country.
