Nature Canada

NatureHood by the Numbers!

NatureHood has been going strong for over 3 years, helping urban residents, particularly children, connect with the outdoors and discover nature through activities built on celebration, education, stewardship, and nature observation.

As we celebrate our previous 80 years of caring about nature, let’s also celebrate our NatureHood and our very youngest nature enthusiasts!

41,297 NatureHood participants since its launch in 2016 of which 16,046 students have participated in NatureHood programs.

530 NatureHood events have been held, including NatureBlitzes and New Immigrant Nature Hikes.

407 school classes have participated in NatureHood class presentations and excursions, including trips to Migratory Bird Sanctuaries and National Wildlife Areas.

15 urban centres and partnerships engaging families with Nearby Nature.

1000’s of species spotted and countless memories made!

Your support of Nature Canada makes programs like NatureHood possible. Thanks to Environment Canada and Climate Change (ECCC) for the funding to expand into more communities in the coming years.

Thank you for sharing your love and wonder of nature with our next generation of conservationists!
