Kids Migrate Too!

[separator headline=”h3″ title=”Spring Bird & Butterfly Migration Parade”]

Nature Canada has a fun elementary school event coming up in the next 2 weeks: our Spring Bird & Butterfly Migration parade, which will take place from 10:30am to 1:30pm on Wednesday, May 13th, along Island Park Drive just west of downtown Ottawa.

So far we have 5 schools representing over 200 kids who are going to participate in the 2 km parade between Hampton Park and the Ottawa River – symbolically representing the northward migration of many species at this time of year. Representatives from Latin American embassies have also been invited to participate given our shared interests in so many migratory species. In fact, Canada just signed onto a Trilateral agreement for migratory bird, bat and butterfly conservation with the US and Mexico.

Canada’s wilderness is the world’s envy. It’s our duty to keep our true north strong and green.
