Defend Species At Risk

Every year, more and more of Canada’s animals and plants are still threatened by extinction. 50% of Canadian wildlife are in decline. With your help, we work every day to reverse this trend and to help save these important species. Endangered species need our protection now!

About the Campaign

Species that you may have seen years ago that were once abundant are now facing troubling population declines. Our campaign around species at risk focuses on ensure these species you grew up with survive, and eventually thrive.

These wild plants and animals give humans so much – from food and medicine, to healthy ecosystems and spiritual nourishment. Wild species clean the air and water, nourish the soil, maintain the carbon balance in the atmosphere, remove pollutants and prevent waste accumulation. The benefits, what some call ecosystem services, are essential to human life on this planet.

We need to ensure that these plants and animals are around for generations to come. From participating as an observer on the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) to being a founding member of the Species at Risk Advisory Committee – we in a position to make strong policy recommendations to decision-makers on species legislation. And with your voice – we can bring even a stronger representation to these committees.
As well, by protecting more critical wilderness across Canada, we protect the spaces species need to survive and thrive again.
