Nick Carter

Nature Network Organizer - Protected Areas

While studying Economics at Carleton University, Nick was alarmed at how often the business world treated the environment and environmental impact as an externality or afterthought. After graduating Nick has focused his work on the not-for-profit sector including the past six years training and mobilizing volunteers to elect environmentally friendly political representatives.

Nick is passionate about working towards a more just and equal society that emphasizes sustainability and people over profits. Nick has followed a plant-based diet for over 15 years as it is one step available to lower his carbon footprint. In 2015, Nick wrote and performed “The Nature of Things of Nature” a one-person show recounting the impacts of human actions on the world around us. Proceeds of the show went to a charity that provides shelter and safety for domestic abuse survivors and their beloved companions. In his free time, Nick loves anything with skates, skis, or hiking boots (or simply hanging out with his partner and their three dogs).
