Carly Madge

Carly joins Nature Canada as the Policy and Campaigns Manager for Ocean Conservation and Marine Protected Areas.
Growing up in Thunder Bay on the traditional territory of the Anishinabek and on the shores of Lake Superior, she developed a deep love for and connection to nature. This passion inspired her to complete an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science at Lakehead University, as well as a Masters Degree in Environmental Studies from Dalhousie University. Carly’s educational and employment experiences have all been rooted in collaboration and community-based knowledge, working closely with communities in Ontario, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia on climate action and conservation projects.
While living in Mi’kma’ki, the traditional land of the Mi’kmaq people, Carly developed a deep passion for ocean conservation and protection, volunteering on beach cleanups and working with nonprofits advocating for more marine protected and conserved areas.
In her spare time, Carly enjoys all things outdoors including surfing, running, and rock climbing.
