Camille Koon

NatureHood Organizer

Originally from Toronto, Camille moved to Ottawa to join the Nature Canada team in 2020, assuming the role of NatureHood Organizer. The NatureHood program effectively unites her passion for connecting people to nature, nature-based pedagogy, and increasing equity and access to programming.

It was Camille’s curiosity of landscapes and systems, and an interest in exploring sustainable relationships with nature that drove her to complete a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Geography from the University of Guelph, and a certificate in Ecotourism from Canadore College. Camille’s career pursuits and keen interest in experiencing new landscapes, culture, and work took her across the country working as a naturalist, and field biologist for a number of agencies. Camille has also worked in learning and facilitation outside of the nature context, contributing to the fields of adult literacy, and education.

In her time off, Camille finds herself wandering in the forest, knitting and cooking at home, and exploring the community
