Gauri Sreenivasan

Director of Campaigns - Protected Areas

Gauri joined Nature Canada as Campaigns Director- Protected Areas in February 2019.

Originally from Calgary and raised in the foothills, Gauri has been working for equity, sustainability and justice for more than 25 years. She led campaign and coalition work with colleagues in Canada and around the world for equity, climate justice, and human rights while working with the Canadian Council for International Cooperation.

She also worked on Parliament Hill from 2011-2014 as Director of Parliamentary Affairs for the Official Opposition. She has significant experience working to connect the Canadian scientific and research community to public advocacy and policy change through senior positions at the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.

Gauri is passionate about building Canadian leadership at a local, national and global level to secure a healthy and sound future for all life on the planet. She loves hiking, swimming, snowshoeing and the magic of how the wild renews and holds us all. She holds a Master’s in International Affairs from Carleton University and speaks English, French, and Spanish. She lives in Ottawa with her partner, two daughters, a stripy cat and a snow-loving dog.
