Ben and Nuki Discover Polar Bears, by Michelle Valberg

Are you looking for a great holiday gift for the children or grandchildren in your life? I recommend the new Michelle Valberg book, Ben and Nuki Discover Polars Bears. Michelle is an award winning Canadian author and photographer whose photos of polar bears are featured throughout the book. Michelle has visited the Arctic numerous times and showcased her Arctic Kaleidoscope exhibit at the Canadian Museum of Nature last year.
This book is a favourite of my own son Noah, who delights in it each time (I still enjoy it 50 times later!) I’m amazed as he asks a new question each time. Last night he asked: How do the northern lights “dance” in the sky? As a parent, I enjoyed the tale of two boys from very different cultures and their budding friendship as Ben (Michelle’s son) embarked on his first northern adventure. Images and facts about polar bears help the reader learn a few things along the way — like polar bears have black tongues.
