What’s your Connection to Nature?

Jodi Joy Blog post by Jodi Joy, Director of Development, Nature Canada

In the fall, our members participated on our first telephone Townhall and we are so thankful for sharing your time, thoughts and feedback with us.  It helps tremendously to have our members share what they care about, and where you believe our efforts are making a difference for nature.  In our poll last month, many raised their voices that our work on protecting wilderness and wildlife, especially in their local areas was important to them.

Members like you also listened in to learn more about our exciting new initiatives like NatureHood and plans for its expansion to more urban communities.

In case you missed out, you can listen in quickly about this work here:

Eleanor, our new Executive Director also shared about the commitment she has made to visit more local parks with her two boys this coming year. Everyone has their own favourite part or place in nature and we would like to hear from you about how you connect to nature?

Why not take a moment to share with us through this poll?  You might be intrigued to learn how your fellow nature lovers are spending their time in nature too?

Here are some exciting ways to celebrate nature coming up next month:

  • February 5th is Western Monarch Day – maybe learn more about the importance of milkweed for monarchs?
  • February 9 (BC) and 16th is Family Day (AB, ON, SK) – what better way to celebrate together than get out for a nature walk or snowshoe?
  • February 13th is Great Backyard Bird Count – how many different birds will you spot at your feeder?

Or maybe get to know your wild, winter neighbours and do an evening “owl” prowl this coming month?

Whatever you chose to do, we would love for you to visit the mynaturecanada.ca website and let us know how you are connecting to nature this year.
