Bird Tweet of the Week: Canada Goose

It’s no secret that the people of Ottawa and Gatineau, or any city in Canada for that matter — have a love-hate relationship with Canada Geese. On the one hand they provide wonderful opportunities to interact with nature and see wildlife up close — something we at Nature Canada describe as connecting to “nearby nature” — but on the other hand they can be the loudest, most obnoxious and… messy lawn-mowers any town or city could ask for. But for now let’s celebrate Canada’s namesake goose.

Each week we introduce a new bird from the Ottawa-Gatineau area through our segment on CBC Radio’s In Town and Out. Alex MacDonald, Nature Canada’s Manager of Protected Areas, shares interesting facts about the birds that live in our communities. Be sure to tune-in to “Bird Tweet of the Week” on CBC Radio One 91.5 FM on Saturday mornings from 6am to 9am and listen to past episodes on our website.
