Bird Tweet of the Week: Blue-headed Vireo

The males and females of this species share duties when it comes to incubating their eggs, but there’s an element of tag-team wrestling involved in this role-sharing.  It turns out that if an incubating male hears the song of another male approaching his territory while he’s on the nest, he’ll pinpoint the exact position it came from and will immediately seek out the would-be challenger as soon as the female relieves him.
