Bird Tweet of the Week: Black Scoter

The Black Scoter is one our stealthiest-looking diving ducks. The male is all black except for a bright yellow protrusion on the base of its otherwise black bill. Whereas the female is all brown in colour. Learn more about the appearance of this duck and its call in this week’s tweet of the week!

Each week we introduce a new bird from the Ottawa-Gatineau area. Alex MacDonald, Nature Canada’s Manager of Protected Areas, shares interesting facts about the birds that live in our communities. Listen to past episodes on our website.

This episode aired on Saturday, November 21st, 2015.
