Air Transat Cargo Supports our Caribbean Project – Thank you!

Image of participantsNature Canada has been working with our BirdLife partners in the Caribbean to promote sustainable livelihoods in critical biodiversity areas. Our partner in Cuba, the Center for Protected Areas (CNAP) is focusing on ecotourism development, agroforestry and environmental education in the Turquino and La Baymesa National Parks and the Delta del Cauto Wildlife Refuge, which are also Important Bird Areas.

This work has been done in collaboration with BirdLife and with the financial support of the Canadian International Development Agency. Today, we want to recognize Air Transat Cargo for adding their support and enabling us to deliver supplies that are not readily available in Cuba for the environmental education component of this project.

Air Transat Cargo has been amazing! Thanks to their generosity, kids in the remote communities around these protected areas will receive 53 boxes of school supplies and backpacks. They are shipping these goods for free from Ottawa to Cuba! Thank you Air Transat Cargo! And a special thanks to Air Transat Cargo coordinator Pamela Sherman for making it happen!
