Photo of the Month - March 2008

Hello Nature Canada,

This is a shot of an osprey building its nest atop a light standard in the parking lot of Seneca College's King Campus located on the Oak Ridges Moraine in Southern Ontario.

An osprey couple has been returning to this 700 acre property for a few years now, and the Environmental Committee on campus has gone to great lengths to build nesting platforms to encourage it to nest. The pair has repeatedly ignored the beautiful nesting platforms, instead preferring to build on the highest point on the campus - the light.

It just goes to show you we never truly know what is best for nature!
