This image of bull moose fighting was taken in Kananaskis Country, west of Calgary, Alberta, on Sept. 30, 2007.

The photographer, Terry Garvin of Calgary, stood within twenty meters of this action. I was not looking for this shot, it just happened that I was near them unintentionally. I was alerted to their presence by the sound of the contact of the antlers.

It is not unusual to be up close in this protected area, but it is not wise either to be close to moose in mating season. However, it was a photo treat to view this scene.
