Great basin spadefoot

Found only in B.C.
Call is a frequently repeated, nasal-sounding "Waah"
Calling begins in late spring or early summer after heavy rains
Spadefoots have a vertical pupil, no parotoid gland and a "spade" on each hind foot
Brown to dull green, with a glandular ridge between the eyes
Breeds in temporary ponds formed after rains
