More than 90 per cent of Canadian birds are migratory. Our birds, therefore, rely on the maintenance of healthy habitat in more than one country. For this simple reason, bird conservation is by definition an international activity with governments, biologists, planners, birders and non-government experts seeking to conserve species throughout their entire range.

Nature Canada, as the Canadian co-partner (with Bird Studies Canada) in the global alliance known as BirdLife International, works with local groups and BirdLife partners throughout the Americas to advance sustainable livelihoods and conserve important bird habitat beyond Canada's borders.

At present, Nature Canada works on bird conservation abroad with partners in the Caribbean, Paraguay and Brazil. Past projects have occurred in Paraguay and Panama and Mexico.
